Another heartbreaking video has emerged showing the abducted principal of Community High School, Esiele, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, and an abducted female teacher, Temitope, pleading with the Federal Government and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for their urgent rescue, Peak Newspaper reports.
The victims were taken during a coordinated attack on three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, which resulted in the abduction of an estimated 46 students and staff members.
In the footage, a visibly distressed Mrs. Alamu begged authorities, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the public to intervene. She urged officials to “settle this thing peacefully so that our lives will not be lost”.
Alongside the principal, a female teacher named Temitope—who was seen carrying a baby at back —also called for help, noting that the kidnapped children were in deep distress and crying constantly.
Mrs. Alamu confirmed that heavily armed men invaded the school premises at approximately 9:30 a.m. on a Friday morning, forcibly taking a large number of staff and students into the forest.
The mass abduction spanned across Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, as well as LA Primary School and Community Grammar School in Esiele. Local community sources confirmed that the kidnappers killed a teacher, Michael Oyedokun, while several others remain missing in the bush.
According to reports by Peak Newspaper, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, stated that joint security forces have cordoned off and trapped the kidnappers within a section of the Old Oyo National Park forest. Operational efforts to secure the hostages safely without further casualties are ongoing.
