Fresh FM Nigeria has suspended its planned Children’s Day/Ileya Carnival earlier scheduled for May 27, while the Oyo State Government has suspended all school-related outdoor activities across the state, Peak Newspaper reports.

The state government announced the suspension of excursions, field trips, sports competitions and every other activity involving the movement of students outside school premises until further notice, citing prevailing security concerns.

The decision comes as efforts continue to secure the release of innocent school children and teachers who were abducted by kidnappers and have remained in captivity for eight days.

At Fresh FM 105.9, management says the suspension of the Children’s Day/Ileya Carnival reflects the station’s commitment to standing with affected families and respecting the current mood across the state.

Speaking on the development, sportscaster Kenny Ogunmiloro noted this via a post on his Social Media handle, that this is a period for collective responsibility, urging residents to remain security conscious and sensitive to the ongoing situation.

He added that while security agencies and the state government continue to intensify rescue efforts, the public must continue to support all genuine efforts aimed at ensuring the victims return home safely.

Fresh FM Nigeria also called on residents to remain hopeful and keep the victims and their families in prayers as the state navigates the difficult period.
