Bye-election: ADC picks Sergius Ogun as Edo Central Senatorial candidate

Barrister Sergius Ogun has been officially declared as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming Edo Central Senatorial District by-election, Peak Newspaper Nigeria reports.

The announcement followed a successful primary election held under the supervision of the party’s state leadership.

State Chairman of the ADC, who also served as the Returning Officer for the exercise, affirmed Ogun’s victory and signed the primary election result sheet, confirming his emergence as the party’s standard bearer.

The event was witnessed by party officials, delegates, and supporters who expressed confidence in Ogun’s ability to represent the district effectively.

In his acceptance speech, Barrister Ogun thanked the party leadership, delegates, and supporters for their trust in him.

He pledged to run an issues-based campaign focused on development, good governance, and the welfare of the people of Edo Central.

“This is a victory for the people, and I am honored to carry the ADC’s banner in this crucial election,” Ogun stated.

He said, “Together, we will work towards bringing progressive representation to the senatorial district and addressing the pressing needs of our communities.”

The Edo Central Senatorial by-election has drawn significant attention, with political analysts keenly watching the ADC’s prospects in the race.

Ogun, a legal practitioner and former member of the Federal House of Representatives, is expected to bring his experience in advocacy and governance to the forefront of his campaign.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced August 16 2025, for the by-election, but political activities are expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

Congratulatory messages continue to pour in for Barrister Ogun as he prepares to contest the Edo Central Senatorial seat on the ADC platform.
