Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared Ondo State as vital to Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.

Shettima was speaking in Akure, Ondo State during the 7th National SMSE Clinic stating that; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) hold the key to job creation and national prosperity.
“MSMEs account for 90 percent of jobs in Nigeria as their success is tied directly to our economic future”, he said.
He revealed that 65 Ondo MSMEs have accessed funding from the FG’s ₦75bn intervention fund, with more to benefit under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including; the Revival of Cocoa, Nationwide Oil Palm Plantation Drive and Support for Small Businesses.
Shettima praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his impactful MSME support programmes, including; the interest-free loans via ODSMA (₦220m disbursed in 2024), “One Youth, One Skill” empowerment scheme and the launch of Ondo’s first mini shared facility at OSDEC, as well as support for award-winning brands like Denki Cables and Kay Classic Fashion.
According to Governor Aiyedatwa, “We’re creating real opportunities. Our Ease Agenda aligns with FG’s vision to empower small businesses”, and appealed for Federal Government support to set up a Fashion Hub and an Oil Palm Processing Plant in Ondo.
Present at the event were; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who called for patronage of Nigerian-made goods, Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, who also backed the MSME Clinic as a game-changer and Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, Presidential Adviser on MSMEs, who highlighted on national impact of MSMEs.
Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami and SSA Orioye Gbayisemore affirmed the state’s commitment to job creation and youth empowerment.
Earlier, VP Shettima visited the Ondo State Council of Obas and urged royal fathers to support Federal Government’s economic reforms.
